In winter months huge flocks of starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) gather together to share communal roosts at dusk. These flocks are known as 'murmurations'. The birds' aerial displays form spectacular patterns which often attract human admirers, as witnessed here at Poole Harbour in Dorset.
